Abstract
A letter to Benjamin Silliman in which Edward Hitchcock discusses different fossils. Hitchcock tells Silliman about a presentation he gave at a meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science about a shark jaw, mentions some new fossil bones he has obtained, and also tells Silliman about a rock slab with fossil footprints he has recently purchased. The first two pages of this letter have been crossed out with large "X"s, the rest of the letter contains many crossed out and rewritten passages.
